We listen to the young people in our care
At CastleCare, we believe that listening to our young people is the key to being able to provide the best possible care for them.
So that all voices are heard we have established a multi layered forum system which enables our young people to have a say on all aspects of their lives.
Each home has regular residents meetings where the young people are invited to talk with staff and managers to express their views and make representations about the service they experience from us. These outcomes are then discussed and acted upon at the highest levels of the organisation.
We also operate regional forums at which young people can represent their peers and meet with other young people from across the CastleCare network.
On several occasions young people from these forums have contributed to debates about what it means to be a ‘looked after child’ at Westminster.
Other features
- Our young people are actively encouraged to contribute to the assessment and planning process as we believe a child’s care plan is more likely to succeed if the young person has a sense of ownership and partnership.
- Every child in our care has access to an independent advocate who will represent them and promote their well being at every opportunity.
- Weekly key worker meetings are held with the young person to ascertain their views and wishes and these are acted upon.
